What is an Serial cable?

A serial cable is a cable that can be used to unlock many Samsung models. However modern computers (especially laptops) do not have a serial port any more. This is because communication to devices via the serial port is slower then USB and serial port connectors are bigger and thus take up more space.

However the communication to external devices is not always fully backwards compatible so the need for the serial cable is still existing. The company 'FTDI' has tried to make a solution for this problem with the FTDI chip. See 'What is an FTDI cable' for more information.
